With consumer debt on the rise, a decline in personal savings, the increase in personal bankruptcy and foreclosures we need to place a greater emphasis on financial literacy in this country.

     The lack of knowledge as never been as evident as it is in today’s economic / housing crisis. The job of learning credit and finance is left to trial and error or learn as you go.  This lack of knowledge creates not only great anxiety but also serious financial problems.  As a mortgage broker the past 14 years I have seen how this lack of knowledge can at times be a detriment for the consumer.  One of the many lessons to be learned from the current market is the need for consumer education.  The consumer must learn and accept that they are responsible for the credit and financial “road” they choose. 

     Good News!!!!!!!!!  I have received my Certified Credit and Finance Coach certification from the American College of Credit.  I was amazed when I saw all the potential this certification holds in assisting others; whether it be those who want to build a more financially secure financial future for themselves and family or those who are trying to figure out how to address any issues they might be having financially.  

No, this is NOT credit repair: though in the class I will teach how to address negative credit issues.  At this time I am offering several seminar options and one on one counseling / education programs.  Some of the topics I will teach:

• Basics on credit, budgeting, savings and finance
• Identifying the client’s personality traits in regards to credit, budgeting, savings and finance
• Help the client to identify areas of credit and finance that need to be changed and how they can change it
• How to build credit and how to address any issues they are currently experiencing in regards to credit
• Teach and emphasis the importance of budgeting and discuss what is an acceptable budget
•  Educate clients so they will have a broader understanding of finances
• Help Clients set and plan their financial goals; and actively pursue achieving those goals
• Educate the consumer on accountability for their actions in spending, credit and finance

As you can see the programs I am currently offering cover finances on a level that we all need to understand.  Participation in the program will create a more financially knowledgeable and secure consumer.
